
Words and Wine – An Evening celebrating Lisel Mueller
Join us at The English Theatre of Hamburg for an intimate evening of poetry and conversation as we explore the life and work of Lisel Mueller, a distinguished German-born American poet. Born in Hamburg in 1924, Mueller fled the Nazi regime at the age of 15, immigrating to the United States in 1939.
Her poetry, known for its warmth and introspection, garnered numerous accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1997 for her volume Alive Together: New and Selected Poems.
Chicago-born director Rebecca Garron will lead the evening, guiding guests through Mueller’s poignant and reflective works. Set in our cozy foyer, attendees can enjoy a glass of fine wine while engaging in readings and discussions of selected poems.
