Jonny Magnanti

HAROLD

Born and brought up in Leeds, Jonny moved to London in 1994 to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since leaving drama school Jonny has enjoyed a career in all aspects of the profession, from West End plays and musicals, theatre tours, rep, film, television and voiceover where he has voiced many TV and radio campaigns. Moving to the East Sussex countryside in 2010 Jonny took some time out to be a full-time dad, and with both children now grown up, returned to the profession playing Igor in the National Theatre’s production of THREE WINTERS directed by Howard Davies, the premier of THE MOOR, HAPPY JACK by John Godber, Oberon in MISDUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, and Malvolio in TWELFTH NIGHT. He also filmed MUSKETERS for BBC, DOCTORS, LUCKY MAN and AMERICAN MONSTERS. Most recently Jonny filmed THE GIRL BEFORE for the BBC and GRACE for ITV. Recent theatre includes Antony in ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, Marc in ART and Launce/The Duke in THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. He is delighted to be appearing in Hamburg for the 7th time, previous productions being ABSENT FRIENDS (1994), MOON OVER THE BREWERY (2012), 39 STEPS (2021), GREAT EXPECTATIONS(2022), ROMANCE IN D (2023) and BEN BUTLER (2023). Since appearing in BEN BUTLER Jonny played David Rubin in the play CAR CRASH, in London, written and directed by his son Bruno, and filmed an episode of the J. K. Rowling Cormoran Strike Detective Series for the BBC entitled THE INK BLACK HEART to be screened soon.

Richard Ings

RIGGS

Richard left a lucrative career in broadcast TV twenty years ago to make his professional acting debut as Henry Higgins in PYGMALION (Italian theatre tour). He has since notched up performances as Polonius inHAMLET (The Bunker, London), Leonato in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Veni Vidi Theatre, London), The Duke of Venice in OTHELLO (Chelsea Theatre, London), and Osborne in JOURNEY’S END (Mesh Theatre, Belgium). He played Walter in the European premiere of THE WOODSMAN (Red Lion Theatre), and has performed in French, playing Arnolphe in L’ECOLE DES FEMMES (Baron’s Court Theatre) and Tarom in QUEL TARTUFFE ! (Vienna’s English Theatre tour). He was last at the English Theatre of Hamburg in 2015, playing Reverend James Morell in Bernard Shaw’s CANDIDA. He has been seen on TV playing French diplomat Francois Georges-Picot in the docudrama LINES IN THE SAND, and can also be seen currently appearing in the Netflix crime thriller THE ALIENIST, starring Daniel Bruhl. As a producer he has brought three brand new shows to theatres in London and Edinburgh (PARASITES, HEADCASE and SHELTERED) and is currently working on bringing his own original translation of Eugene Labiche’s MR PERRICHON’S TRAVELSto the stage in 2025. As a voice actor, he will soon be heard in the audiobook version of the fictionalised memoirs of Pompey the Great, THE GREAT ONE, and his original music can be listened to on Spotify under the pseudonym A Sea With 3 Stars.

Joanne Hildon

EMMA

Joanne trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where she was awarded the Ralph Richardson Memorial Award and The National Confederation of Drama Schools’ Lilian Baylis Award. She represented Mountview playing Isabella in Shakespeare’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE at The William Poel Festival at the Royal National Theatre. Theatre work includes: SIENNA RED (tour for Peter Hall and Bill Kenwright); MRS WARREN’S PROFESSION and YOU NEVER CAN TELL (tours for Michael Friend Productions); HITLER DANCES for Paul Tomlinson (Greenwich); WAS HE ANYONE? for Elgiva Field (Union); THE MISSION for Annie Castledine (Red Roaster Festival); STORMIN’ JACK NORMAN for Polly Irvin (Nightingale); IMAGINE DROWNING for Ed Bartram (Rosemary Branch). Television, film and radio include: YOUNG AMERICANS, IGNORANCE IS DANCING and PLAY DEAD for Danny Cannon (Channel 4); GRANGE HILL for Paul Annette (BBC); A SIMPLE MAN for Adam Bennett (Wychwood Films); HAT for Timothy Holden (Three World Films); THE PARTY GAME for Kevin Curtis and WATERLAND for David Hunter (Radio 4). Commercial credits include: Muller Yoghurt, Marmite, Crown Carvery, KFC and Autoglass. This is Joanne’s fifth play for The English Theatre of Hamburg where she previously played Louise in WHY NOT STAY FOR BREAKFAST, Camille in DEADLY GAME, Alice in SNAKE IN THE GRASS and Helen in ROMANCE IN D. Joanne was also the Principal of her own Performing Arts School for children and adapted and staged several productions for the school.

Ciaran Lonsdale

EGAN

Ciaran trained at The Oxford School of Drama, graduating in 2016. He works predominantly in screen, theatre, voiceover, and commercials. London theatre credits include: SHEEP and JAMES BONNEY MP (White Bear), AAAAA and AT FIRST (Lion & Unicorn), SCRAMBLED (Southwark Playhouse), THE NUTCRACKER (Royal Albert Hall). Ciaran’s most recent work was as Marcel Rousset in the WWII streaming series THE LOST WOMEN SPIES. This is Ciaran’s debut season with The English Theatre of Hamburg.
