Richard left a lucrative career in broadcast TV twenty years ago to make his professional acting debut as Henry Higgins in PYGMALION (Italian theatre tour). He has since notched up performances as Polonius in HAMLET (The Bunker, London), Leonato in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Veni Vidi Theatre, London), The Duke of Venice in OTHELLO (Chelsea Theatre, London), and Osborne in JOURNEY’S END (Mesh Theatre, Belgium). He played Walter in the European premiere of THE WOODSMAN (Red Lion Theatre), and has performed in French, playing Arnolphe in L’ECOLE DES FEMMES (Baron’s Court Theatre) and Tarom in QUEL TARTUFFE ! (Vienna’s English Theatre tour). He was last at the English Theatre of Hamburg in 2024 playing Paul Riggs in the comedy thriller MURDER BY MISADVENTURE, and previously, in 2015, playing Reverend James Morell in Bernard Shaw’s CANDIDA. He has been seen on TV playing French diplomat Francois Georges-Picot in the docudrama LINES IN THE SAND, and can also be seen currently appearing in the Netflix crime thriller THE ALIENIST, starring Daniel Bruhl. As a producer he has brought three brand new shows to theatres in London and Edinburgh (PARASITES, HEADCASE and SHELTERED) and is currently working on bringing his own original translation of Eugene Labiche’s MR PERRICHON’S TRAVELS to the stage. As a voice actor, he has narrated the audiobook version of the fictionalised memoirs of Pompey the Great, THE GREAT ONE, and his original music can be heard on Spotify under the pseudonym A Sea With 3 Stars.
